Now that the Peachtree is no more; we will try to continue this little blog. There's some seperation anxiety we're dealing with, but for the most part...we're doing okay. I, Arlene, am having a great time in NYC so far. Unfortch, the fun needs to be cut back a bit while I find a job. Ugh, will someone please just pay me for hanging out all day and going out every night? Speaking of, my friend, the Urban Cowboy, and I saw Blades of Glory today. It was a rainy nasty day and we just wanted to do something that requires zero thought...and this movie filled that criteria. It was for the most part funny...but there were some scenes that should have been cut. It's one thing to add something random and doesn't make any sense if it's funny...but the scene about the hair brush? Seriously? It seems like maybe at some point when they were filming that someone would have questioned its purpose. Anyone; the director, an actor, some tech guy? Anyway...it's a funny rainyday movie, but it's no Grandma's Boy!

Goodbye Peachtree

It's been a while. About 3 months. Betsy has flown the Peachtree and in a week, Arlene will also. We've had really great times here. It looks like, in our absence, we've become very popular with people wanting to promote Viagra. At least someone is commenting? Seems like we have more comments not doing anything with this blog, than when we actually blog. Weird, huh?
So, here's hoping Betsy finds much success in Los Angeles and Arlene figures out how to survive on her own in New York City. And one last wish...that the new residents of the Peachtree finally figure out why the mysterious Indians that live above need to vacuum at 3am, what makes the ticking sounds that lasts hours on end, and please join them in a loud, stomping game of Dance Dance Revolution (which they like to play at any given hour of the day, or sometimes all).

And I am telling you...

Dreamgirls is the best movie I have seen in about three years. If not my whole life. (Probably the best movie I saw before that was Chicago, in case you were curious. Yes I love musicals. A lot.) I saw it on Christmas and then saw it again a couple days later... and I'm looking to go again if anyone wants to watch it! The singing, the dancing, the costumes, the sets, the story, the characters - it has everything I want in a movie. Truthfully, how could I NOT like a musical involving Beyonce and a lot of sparkly costumes!? Anyway... I think it's spectacular, and I hope that both Jennifer Hudson (from AMERICAN IDOL - and we all know my love for that show) and Eddie Murphy win Best Supporting Oscars come awards season. They definitely deserve them - and who knew Eddie was such a good singer!? I did not. Arlene did not like this movie as much as I did... which made my heart a little sad, but I'm on my way to accepting it. Anyway, you should all go see it.

Designer

Architect, Steven Ehrlich gets today's honor. His houses and buildings are beautiful; but more importantly, they are made from sustainable materials. His own house, which he designed, is also 100% sustainable.
A retrospect of his firms' work, Multicultural Modernism:The Work of Steven Ehrlich Architects, is now on display at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Hottie

Andy Roddick. Yum

Um, yeah...I have no words for that last one.

Cutie of the Day

We're not that into kids over here. They can be extremely annoying this time of year; with all the screaming, strollers, double-strollers, and droll. (Can't a girl go to the mall in peace without tripping over some lose kid?) Plus, don't all babies tend to look the same...like an alien? However, there are some rare exceptions. And little Kingston is one of them. With genes like those, how anything not come out looking like perfection? Gwen and Gavin make a great couple and an even better baby.
